Working at SLPE: Vamsi Krishna, Graduate Engineer

This month, we are proud to put the spotlight on Vamsi Krishna, one of our talented Graduate Engineers. Since joining us, Vamsi has brought an eagerness to learn and a passion for problem-solving that resonates with our team’s ethos. His experience at SLPE sheds light on what makes us a great place to work—whether you’re just starting out in your career or looking for that professional change, we have great career opportunities for everyone.
Here’s a glimpse into Vamsi’s journey so far.
At SLPE, new graduates don’t wait in the wings, we love to let them dive straight into live projects and have them demonstrate their value and skill set. For Vamsi, this has been a game-changer:
“From day one, I was immersed in live projects, working on design briefs and learning the ropes with Sesam GeniE software. Documenting design methodologies and applying codes of practice to our projects has been an incredible learning experience. This hands-on approach isn’t something every company offers, especially to new graduates. It’s one of SLPE’s standout qualities, and it has accelerated both my technical skills and confidence.
What’s more, the team here is incredibly supportive. Whenever I hit a roadblock, someone always takes the time to explain things thoroughly. As a graduate engineer, this encouragement and willingness to share knowledge have made a huge difference in my professional growth.”
SLPE’s commitment to continuous learning and development is embedded in our company culture. One highlight for Vamsi has been the chance to present at the SLPE Summer Conference:
“Sharing my dissertation on offshore floating windfarms with the entire team was a moment I’ll never forget. Normally, the only chance to discuss something like this is in an interview, but SLPE provided a platform to revisit my work and explore it with colleagues with a genuine interest. My dissertation focused on operational challenges and cost-benefit analyses for O&M strategies for offshore floating windfarms, and being able to explain this to the whole company was an absolute privilege.
SLPE goes beyond the norm to create a space where everyone feels valued and we want to hear all employee’s voices and opinions. It’s about being part of a learning-focused community.”
For Vamsi, SLPE’s approach to hybrid working has been another big win:
“Relocating from Glasgow to London was a major life change, but having the option to work from home has made the transition much smoother. Hybrid working saves time and offers flexibility, and while many companies offer it, SLPE goes the extra mile. They truly accommodate personal situations and ensure the balance works for everyone.
For someone moving between big cities, having that support and understanding is invaluable and demonstrates SLPE’s commitment to employee wellbeing.”
Vamsi’s journey is a testament to what makes SLPE a great place to grow, learn, and contribute to the future of renewable energy. Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the amazing individuals behind SLPE’s success. If you missed our previous stories, check them out here:
