Project Engineer

Due to SLPE’s continued success and an exciting pipeline of major projects, we are seeking a Project Engineer to join our ambitious and growing team on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked within project controls, project management, interface engineering or a combination of these within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. You have excellent communication and organisational skills, combined with a strong technical background (structural, mechanical, geotechnical, electrical engineering or equivalent), familiarity with project management practices, and a desire to develop your project management experience.

Our core business is in the design of foundation structures for offshore substations and wind turbines, pushing the boundaries of technology to enable a sustainable energy future. You will be able to learn from the best and broaden your offshore wind experience whilst supporting our Engineering Managers and Project Managers to deliver a range of exciting projects.

We are seeking a highly-organised Project Engineer who can drive forward projects through initiative and collaboration. You will be well-versed with the overall project planning and interfaces to deliver complex, multidisciplinary design scopes. You will provide the critical link between project management and engineering execution. With a clear understanding of the project schedule, budget, risk and other commercial elements, you coordinate technical teams towards outstanding project delivery and client satisfaction.

The role offers a competitive salary range from £37,700 to £59,300  per annum dependent on experience (please note the salary range ranges from a Project Engineer I to Project Engineer II).

• Supporting our Engineering Managers and Project Managers with the management and delivery of our varied portfolio of offshore wind projects.
• Taking ownership of project management aspects and deliverables such as those relating to scheduling, cost control, resourcing, progress reporting, interfaces and design risk management.
• Proactively and regularly measuring team performance against expectations, looking ahead and acting to mitigate risks before they are realised.
• Managing internal and external stakeholders, such as project teams, subcontractors, clients, and third parties towards shared goals. You may be required to chair project meetings and discussions within your area of remit, which may be client-facing.
• Contributing and/or managing the production of high-quality bids for a range of offshore wind projects as required.
• Supporting a varied range of work across the team, including business development and business operations, as requirements arise.

• Minimum qualifications: a Degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. A specialism in offshore engineering or offshore wind would be an advantage.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in multidisciplinary engineering projects in the role of Project Engineer, Project Controls Engineer, Design Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar.
• Experience in managing design interfaces on engineering projects involving collaboration between multiple engineering disciplines and/or multiple parties.
• Experience in developing and managing project schedules using software such as Oracle Primavera Cloud/P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Experience with Cost, Time, and Resources (CTR) estimating, budget development, and cost control of technically complex projects, or key work packages within projects.
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness, with a demonstrable appreciation of technical and commercial risk management.

• Experience with Earned Value Management for progress measurement.
• Experience with change control and contract management on projects.
• Experience with bid writing and bid preparation.
• Qualified to, or working towards, Chartership or a foundation-level Project Management qualification.
• Experience in the offshore wind industry and familiarity with offshore wind foundations design projects are not essential but will be highly advantageous.

• Proactive, self-motivated, well-organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks and
• Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work with project teams, subcontractors, clients and stakeholders as well as the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• An understanding of client relationship management, and how best to deliver maximum value for our clients.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality in company deliverables produced by yourself as well as those you manage or coordinate.
• Excellent presentation and writing skills, with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.

This role will be based in either London or Bristol. SLPE currently operates on a hybrid working basis, with staff typically expected to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week. For a Bristol-based candidate, regular travel to SLPE’s main office in central London will be required, for which expenses will be reimbursed.
